- The Site presents visitors with information about the books in our store, and these Terms govern your use of the Site.
- Use of the Site is subject to your acceptance of these Terms. Please read them carefully. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
- We do not guarantee that the information on the Site is current at all times; updates may be delayed.
- We reserve the right to include paid promotional content on the Site.
- To the maximum extent permitted by law, use of the informational content on the Site is at your own risk; articles reflect the views of their authors.
This does not exclude or limit our liability for gross negligence, intentional misconduct, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under EU and Portuguese consumer-protection law.
2. Pricing, payment, and delivery
Prices and taxes. All book prices displayed on the Site are inclusive of applicable Value Added Tax (VAT).
Delivery costs. Shipping is not included in the displayed base price. Delivery costs are calculated at checkout based on your shipping destination and the current rates of our delivery partners (such as CTT and international couriers). The total price — including all taxes and final delivery costs — is shown before you confirm your order.
Delivery locations & timeframes. We ship worldwide, provided our delivery partners maintain active routes to your destination. Estimated delivery times vary by destination country and carrier.
Local pickup. Where offered, you may choose to collect your order in person at checkout instead of paid delivery. We will let you know when your order is ready for collection.
International orders (outside the EU). Orders delivered outside the European Union may be subject to local import duties, customs tariffs, or taxes on arrival. Any such charges are the sole responsibility of the customer; we have no control over them and cannot predict them.
Payment methods. We accept payment via credit/debit card. Full payment, including applicable shipping costs, is required before your order is dispatched.
3. Order process and contract formation
Placing an order. Add a product to your cart, then proceed to checkout. At checkout you provide your full name, billing address, shipping address, and contact details (email and telephone). You may add optional comments (such as delivery instructions for the courier). Before payment, the checkout shows the full total including VAT and delivery. You are then directed to the secure payment page to enter your payment details and complete the purchase.
Correcting errors. Up until you click the final button to complete the purchase, you can review your order, use the “back” controls to correct your details, addresses, or cart, or cancel the checkout entirely.
Contract formation. Clicking the final button to complete the purchase is a binding offer to the Company. A legally binding contract is formed when we accept your offer — when we send you an automated order confirmation email containing the details of your purchase.
4. Customer return and exchange policy
As a consumer you have the right to withdraw from your purchase within 14 days. For full details, see our Customer Return and Exchange Policy (https://cms.portoliterarysalon.com/customer-return-and-exchange-policy/), which forms part of these Terms.
5. Legal guarantee
Under EU and Portuguese law, the books we sell are covered by the statutory legal guarantee of conformity. If you receive a book with a manufacturing defect (e.g. missing pages or printing errors), you have the right to a replacement or refund. This guarantee does not apply where the defect or damage results from the consumer’s own actions, misuse, accidents, or improper handling after delivery.
6. Copyright
The Company protects its copyright and takes measures to prevent infringement. Please refer to the Copyright page ([COPYRIGHT_PAGE]).
7. Privacy
We respect the privacy of Site visitors in accordance with our Privacy Policy (https://cms.portoliterarysalon.com/privacy-policy-2/). Use of the Site is conditional on acceptance of that policy.
8. Alternative / Online Dispute Resolution (ADR / ODR)
For a consumer dispute, you may submit a complaint via the European Commission’s Online Dispute Resolution platform: https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. Under Portuguese Law No. 144/2015, the competent ADR entity for our area is CICAP. We have not voluntarily adhered to any ADR entity, and participation in out-of-court arbitration is not mandatory for our business.
