O Mandarim

The Mandarin is a novel of a "fantastical and fantastical" nature that recounts the misadventures of Teodoro, a bachelor and clerk at the Ministry of the Kingdom, after discovering a mysterious book about a mandarin with untold wealth. To inherit his millions, he only needs to ring a bell, but this will cause the death of old Ti Chin-Fu. Lured by the Devil, Teodoro succumbs to greed, then embarks on a chimerical journey to the far reaches of China to undo the evil he has caused.
