"A Whistle in the Dark" is a celebrated play written in 1961 by the Irish playwright Tom Murphy. Michael Carney is an Irish immigrant who moved to Coventry, England, in an attempt to leave behind the poverty and hardship of his homeland. He married an English woman and seeks to build a peaceful and respectable life. Michael's peace is shattered when his father and younger brothers arrive from Ireland to visit him.
