Parménide

Of all Plato's dialogues, the Parmenides remains the most controversial. A fascinating work that the Neoplatonists used as their laboratory; a perplexing work in which some have seen a mere logical exercise... The new translation offered here could not avoid a fresh reading. Here we will see that Plato, in order to test the hypothesis of the existence of an intelligible world in which the sensible world we inhabit participates, does not neglect the history of philosophy: from Parmenides as from Zeno, methodical interlocutors, he borrows elements which, because they organize a cosmology in their work, will nourish in his own the foundations of a metaphysics.
