The book serves as a catalog for an exhibition held at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and is divided into two main parts: one dedicated to the artistic evocation of the medical generation by seven contemporary creators, and the other centered on the historical study of the Faculty of Medicine of Lisbon, portraying the group of doctors who reformed teaching in Portugal at the beginning of the 20th century and replaced the purely theoretical and bookish teaching of the old medical-surgical schools with practical teaching based on laboratory experience and research institutes.
