A washed-up writer faces a financial and emotional crisis as Rio de Janeiro collapses around him. Author of a historical novel that was a hit in the 1990s, writer Manuel Duarte is going through a creative and sentimental wasteland. Torn between several ex-wives, burdened by heavy debts, and surprised by a son from whom he is learning to be a father, Manuel Duarte wanders the streets of Leblon in between hours spent at his keyboard, desperately searching for a new book. The backdrop is a Rio de Janeiro that bleeds and writhes under the scourge of increasingly blatant social wounds; a larger setting where the individual wounds of the characters unfold, together composing a diary in which they seek to make sense of the turmoil of the present.
